Hi Humans,
A recent event in the news illustrated some of the worst and best characteristics of human nature. An example of the worst was an educated but misguided human who got on an airplane with explosives hidden on his body with the intention of killing himself and all his fellow passengers for the most foolish of reasons. He and the other criminals who sent him believe that their cause is more important than the lives of innocent people. Religion which originated to give hope to humans who realize the inevitable tragedy of life is perverted by those gangs of murderers to serve their selfish ends. On the other hand, the best of human behavior was illustrated by the passengers and crew who heroically and successfully jumped on the terrorist for the most noble of human purposes, to collectively save their lives.

If I Were a Human
Hi Humans,
Here is my latest poem, dedicated to you guys.
.
If I Were a Human
by Chloe the Little Dog
.
If I were a human,
A brainy headed human,
I'd buy me a pencil
And go off to school.
I'd savor each moment.
I'd work hard and study hard
'cause I wouldn't want to
Be a human fool.
.
By the way, Mommy (alias Beadshaper) has started a new gallery for wire wrapped heart shaped beads on her web site at Wire Wrapped Heart Beads .

National Television News
Hi Humans,
An interesting observation on national telvision news. The 3 big stations seem to be CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. Fox is crazy Right, MSNBC is crazy Left, and CNN tries to be balanced. But if you want to watch serious political news, Fox and MSNBC stick to it in their own prejudiced ways. CNN is great when they actually discuss important stuff, but half the time they are into fluff, like Tiger Woods, the octuplet parents, etc. Why is this? It must be because each station caters to its clientele. The loyal idealogues who are glued to Fox and MSNBC can stay focused endlessly on their respective B.S. The rest in the middle seem to have no attention span. Well what can you expect from Humans?

On Religion and Politics
Hi Humans,
I was sitting on Daddy's lap the other day while he was watching one of those political t.v. shows on CNN or one of those news stations where they talk endlessly about human politics. They were talking about the clash between Islam and the West. Then some people were saying that the clash is actually between religious fundamentalism and secularism in Islam. Actually (if my little doggie opinion matters), I think the real clash is between those who favor separation of church and state and those who want to mix politics or nationalism and religion. Some people use religion to justify bad behavior. Those people pollute religion by using it for some alterior motive. After all what does religion have to do with nationalism or politics? I think it is no coincidence that most or all civilizations have had some kind of religion. Imagine the most primitive person looking at the temporary and unpredictable nature of life. He needed some way of dealing with this problem, and we still do today. The discovery of religion was and is a way to do that. But using it to justify other things does nothing to serve that end. In fact it muddies religion and obscures its real purpose. Secularism and separation of church and state do not deny religion but rather allow it to focus on its real purpose.
It happens that in this time, fanaticism is more prevalent in Islam than in most other religions. It wasn't always so. During the Middle Ages, Islam was among the most enightened civilizations. And it does not have to be so. Fanaticism is contrary to the interests of most Muslims. It would serve them well if they did a better job of denouncing the fanatics among them. That is not to say that Christianity and Judaism are completely free of fanaticism. To a lesser extent we have our own idealogues. Fortunately the American people have now shown their collective wisdom by electing a pragmatic President Obama who is leading us back into a position of strength. In this way sanity will win over insanity, and the world will be a better place for humans (and therefore us dogs as well).
